The Kitchen Sink

*For your edification, the LaviShea bars were designed by the wife of a Frontier Airlines pilot.  His hands would get really rough but he didn’t like to carry lotion because of screening at the airport, so she developed the bars.  They are a solid combination of shea butter and soy that melt with body heat and absorb quickly, without leaving a greasy residue.  They also smell really nice - not cloying at all.  Bars are available in these scents:  Citrus Basil, Cucumber Melon, Ginger Blossom, Lavender, Lemongrass (for good or bad, it smells like Pledge), Pear, The Man Bar (no comment except it smells really nice), The Yarn Bar (smells good, but does it smell like yarn?), Unscented (boring!), and White Lily Amber.

Wonderful Wonder Clips

Sawtooth Rail Fence Jr

Day 7 Special (December 17)

A Historic Notion

Think historic thoughts while ripping out errant seams.  These beautiful Seam Rippers ($20 each) are handmade by Don Blasdel.  He used wood from ash and elm trees that were planted at the Idaho State Capitol Building in 1887 and moved in 2007 during the restoration and expansion of the Capitol.  We know you personally have no need for a seam ripper, but maybe some of your sewing buddies could use one now and then.  He’s done a beautiful job on these - what a piece of Idaho history!

We twisted Don’s arm to allow us to offer these during The Twelve Days of Christmas.  He only had enough mechanisms to make twelve but has promised us a few more after the beginning of the year.  So, the first 12 get one before Christmas, the next 12 will receive them from the next batch.  If we do some more forceful arm-twisting, we might persuade him to make more.

Tablerunner

You know that commercial where the woman pretends she’s slaving away in the kitchen making dessert?  Finally, she puts down her novel, dusts a little flour on her face and takes a plate of Rice Krispie treats into the dining room.  This tablerunner is our fabric version of that - but don’t tell my neighbor Jeanne.  One year, I bought fabric while at work, got home at 6:30, whipped up a runner, and made it to her Christmas party by 7:00.  She thinks I am a wonder (and I wonder who I am . . .).  We call this the 10-minute tablerunner, adding rickrack takes it to 15 minutes.  Seriously.  Buy either our red Christmas version or the pink and teal Valentine model ($15.99 for the kit which includes fabric, pattern, and rickrack), and get a free pattern for the cute, cute Christmas Tree napkins (regularly $2.50).  Buy them both and add a free pattern for a mitered placemat (normally $2.50).  BTW, the real name of the napkin is “Floral Bouquet Napkins” - we don’t get it either, but don’t want you to be surprised when you receive them.
